This woody, little shrub has similar spiky leaves to its neighbor the rosemary plant and is covered in stalks of flowers. Its flowers are sparser and shaped differently, but resemble the blue to rich purple of the Spanish sage's other neighbor, the lavender plant. Just like the other plants, it is aromatic and contains an essential oil bearing properties that boost health.

Recent studies are showing the oil of this plant to boost the memory capability of adults and may someday be used in a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
