The elemi is a tree of rough bark, bushy green leafs and yellow flowers decorated with spiky petals. Resin of a pale yellow color with a consistency of natural honey is collected from the trunk of the tree. Elemi oil is steam distilled from this resin. It is very fragrant and has tones similar to that of the pine tree and citrus fruits. It has many medicinal uses since it assists in the healing of respiratory ailments.

Belonging to the same family as frankincense and myrrh, it is a traditional remedy in Europe.
