This tree, also known as the American Juniper, grows anywhere from 32 to 48 feet in height. While some look like true trees, other varieties resemble very large shrubs having branches and leaves that cover the entirety of the trunk. The tree is used primarily for its wood, which is both hardy and aromatic. An essential oil obtained from the wood is also a great medicinal treatment for skin and nervous complaints.
