Cinnamon is gathered from a quickly growing tree belonging to the Laurel family that has large, green leaves. What we use as a spice is actually the inner bark of the tree.

Cinnamon oil, a medicinal essential oil, can also be obtained from the bark and from the leaves of the tree. Leaf oil is mixed into beauty products that are applied to the skin.
