This particular species of the chamomile has been much confused with chamomile flowers that grow in the Mediterranean region and other parts of Europe. This species is actually believed to have evolved from the chamomile that grows in the Mediterranean countries and is distinctly different from the Roman or German chamomile plant.
It is an attractive plant that grows approximately 3 to 4 feet in height (35 to 49 inches) and has hairy leaves. Also growing on the plant are tubular, yellow flowers. Oil harvested from the plant is brownish-yellow in color, and while varying slightly from season to season, usually has a sweet and lingering scent. The oil is useful for bath and beauty products as well as medicinal purposes since it relieves the symptoms of several ailments.
