This tree is known by many names. Aside from being called the Cajeput, it is also called the White Tea Tree, the Swamp Tea Tree and the White Wood. The names refer to the fact that its long trunk has spongy bark that is very pale in color and flakes off. It is topped by bunches of small leaves attached to irregular, weeping branches that jut out. Amidst the leaves, puffy flowers resembling dandelions can be found and are pale yellow or white in color.

The leaves of this tree have a powerful aroma and from them and the twigs a greenish oil is extracted. This oil is extremely potent and is used to treat a number of ailments when mixed with other oils. Primarily it works well as an aid for respiratory illnesses and a healing agent for bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections.
